Celebrating Our Last First Date

On April 30, 2006 I had my last first date.
I met him at the Bar Bar on April 21st.
I wore these shoes.
He got my number.
He called me 7 days (!!!!!I know!!!!!!!) later.
He invited me to have brunch.
He told me he would call me later with the details.
He called on Sunday morning and I frantically wrote this note:
which was on the back of this note from my roommate, Nancy:
We went to Lucile's.
I remember talking about growing up in Colorado.
And about our music tastes.
And about our families.
And about food.
After brunch, he asked me if I wanted to go to the mall with him to get new work pants.
He drove a beat up 1987 Ford Bronco.
I didn't tell him that I was afraid the torn seat would rip my skirt.
{It didn't.}
We went to J. Crew and I offered suggestions around buying plaid pants.
And bright colored shirts.
We tasted olive oil at Olive and Co.
It was gross!
{But I hid my disgust pretty well, I think!}
He bought pants, at The Gap, on sale.
We people watched and considered the ramifications of "germ breakfast".
{Which is the play area for the kids at the mall.}

He said "Such is life" a lot.
I said "That's cool." a lot.
He asked if I wanted to go to the record store after the mall.
I bought "The Wallflowers" album.
He bought the "Neil Young Prairie Wind" album.
We walked slowly to my car.
We hugged goodbye.
He said he would call me.
And he did.
1 day later.

  1. These seemingly small details captured with such love paint a picture of your date with Brian. I feel as if I were a little mouse in your pocket as you went from Lucile's to the stores in the mall, to the record store, and then finally home. I had so much fun! Love you two! <3
