I have a love/hate relationship with starting a new year.
On one hand I feel VERY READY to move on from what was but I am often apprehensive about starting something new. I am always optimistic about what I think a fresh start will bring, but I also see patterns in my life where I start strong and
then I don't always follow through with my plans.
I have been feeling {more than usual} sensitive to the lack of rhyme and reason to life.
I know rationally that it's impossible to understand
why certain things happen to certain people.
I know rationally that control is an illusion.
I know rationally that the flip of a calendar doesn't make
everything from the past disappear.
{But man, wouldn't that be awesome??}
I know rationally that Hollywood makes things look better than reality.
But.
But this year Hollywood saved New Year's.
{Who am I kidding? I love me a sappy RomCom, no matter the quality!}
But let me tell you; after I cried when Halle Berry Skyped with Common and after
Robert De Nero and Hilary Swank shared a perfect father/daughter moment, good ole Josh Duhamel spoke the truth I was craving for the start to my new year,
and it saved me.
"Sometimes it feels like there are so many things in this world we can't control. Earthquakes, floods, reality shows... But it's important to remember the things that we can. Like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts... Because the one thing that turns the world from the longing place to a beautiful place... is love.
Love and any of its forms. Love gives us hope...
Love and any of its forms. Love gives us hope...
Hope for the New Year. That's what New Year's Eve is to me.
Hope and a great party!"--Sam from New Year's Eve
It's super cheesy, it's super cliche and I love it.
This year as I jump into the new year, I feel a sense of hope and renewal that Love wins.
It always wins.
It always wins.
Happy New Year to YOU and may Love-- in its many forms-- bring you Hope in 2014.
Happy new year, my friend! I hope it will be fantastic for you and your loved ones! Hugs!
